GREETING

Greetings! I am Hyung-seon Ryu, the Chairman of the Korea Pharmaceutical Traders Association (KPTA).

Since its establishment in 1957, the KPTA has been dedicated to promoting the export and import of pharmaceuticals and establishing distribution order. We have been at the forefront of introducing the excellence of Korean pharmaceuticals and cosmetics to the global market by participating in various pharmaceutical exhibitions held in countries such as China, Japan, and Europe.

Furthermore, the KPTA organizes meetings and conferences by inviting key officials from trading partner countries to promote pharmaceutical trade, attends domestic and international exhibitions to grasp the latest trends in the pharmaceutical market, and dispatches trade delegations to various countries to explore overseas markets.

The KPTA operates the "Standardized Customs Clearance Reporting Services" integrating system in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Korea Customs Service, and quality inspection Services to facilitate the smooth importation of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other related products. Additionally, we compile import and export statistics for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, share information on pharmaceutical trends in various countries with member companies, and provide various educational services to industry professionals.

The importance of the global pharmaceutical industry has increased, and the global scale of exports and imports is also on the rise. With the first surplus in the export of pharmaceuticals and bioproducts in 2024, it is time to consider how the pharmaceutical industry can continue to grow sustainably.

As the 18th Chairman of the KPTA, I will carry out the following policies to promote pharmaceutical exports:

Firstly, the KPTA will actively participate in various international and domestic exhibitions and conferences to firmly establish ourselves as a reliable partner for global market entry in the industry.

Secondly, the KPTA will sign MOUs with major pharmaceutical institutions in key countries, explore new exhibitions to pioneer overseas markets. Additionally, we will actively seek and promote future growth drivers such as educational initiatives and policy research projects.

Thirdly, the KPTA will expand partnerships with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to support policy development in the pharmaceutical industry and deeply consider and communicate all current issues from the perspective of member companies.

Lastly, we will enhance differentiated export support programs to respond to the rapidly changing trade environment in the pharmaceutical industry and increase global competitiveness to seize new opportunities for advancement.

The KPTA has been committed to promoting exports as a partner for domestic pharmaceutical companies to enter the global market. We will faithfully fulfill our role as a bridge between Korea and the global pharmaceutical market to contribute to public health improvement and national economic development. Through these efforts, we will strive to promote the excellence of Korean pharmaceuticals to the world.
